SKYTRAIN (BTS) This modern skytrain is the best way to avoid Bangkok's traffic jams! It connects many attractions, grand shopping malls, Chatuchak weekend market, and also night life areas on Sukhumvit.
It is very convenient if you are staying with us at the Plaza Athénée Bangkok, A Royal Méridien Hotel, which is steps away from Phloen Chit Station. From there you can reach the river (Saphan Taksin Station) and take a boat directly to Bangkok's palace attractions.
SUBWAY (MRT) The MRT is another Bangkok's modern transportation method. It has interchanges with the Skytrain at Si Lom, Sukhumvit and Chatuchak Park stations. A similar ticketing system is used as the Skytrain (BTS) but both systems are not compatible for the time being. All stations of the underground train can be reached via ramps and elevators, if needed, or alternatively via escalators.
TUK TUK Thailand's ubiquitous tuk-tuk is named because of the sound of their engine. It is an auto rickshaw, a small three-wheeled cart driven by a person. Popular amongst tourists for their novelty value. They are particularly popular during traffic congestion.
TAXI Perhaps the easiest and most comfortable way to get around, if not always the quickest, is by the air-conditioned taxi. By international standards they are very cheap too, starting from THB 35 (approximately USD$ 0.85) including the first 02 km and it's THB 05 per km after that. This means that even relatively long journeys, such as from our hotel to the Grand Palace often are not above THB 100 (approximately USD$ 2.50).
